Best search engine optimization tips

10. May 2008 11:27, shahjee

The world wide web is a highly competitive market. Companies vie for the attention of billions of internet users in the search for better revenue. A lynch pin to the internet marketing war is the search engine.

Search engines are internet venues where billions of people congregate to search for information. The most prominent search engine giants are Google and Yahoo. The kind of traffic these dot-com companies receive per hour is phenomenal.

So naturally, companies would gravitate towards placing their links and sites in an attempt to garner more visits to their web sites.

In order to maximize ranking and placement, companies have used tools such as search engine optimization or SEO. Search engine optimization is the method or process of improving a web site’s ranking in a search engine listing.

Legitimate search engine optimization practices focus on the improvement of a page’s ranking in the search engine list by improving site content, usability and using legitimate methos of promotion through web phenomena such as viral marketing.

Search engines all use complex algorithms in keeping their relevancy in the web and to keep illegal and abusive search engine optimization methods from prospering. However, “black hat” SEO users will always be around so it is expected that search engine giant such as Google and Yahoo will continue to make more complex algorithms to filter the garbage out.

Search engines display different kinds of listings on a result page. The more common ones are pay-per-click (PPC), adverts, paid inclusion, and organic listings. Of all these listings, SEO concerns itself foremost with organic listings for a variety of keywords. This can increase the quality and quantity or visitors to a desired web site.

Organic searches are searches conducted by web users in a search engine that is free from solicitations. A study from Jupiter Media stated that 5 out of 6 commercial online purchases came from organic searches versus paid online ads.

This has made SEO much more in demand in creating revenue for companies as SEO is not a paid ad but a method of intrinsically improving content.

Here are a few tips on improving content for a much more improved result in organic searches:

1. Expertise. Follow your strengths. Sites you set up must be on subject you consider yourself an expert on. People can smell an amateur a mile away.

2. Plan the site. A good layout for the site can improve usability. This in turn will not unnecessarily aggravate the browser.

3. Research. Check out the competition and see what they have set up. See what works and what does not. If possible try to communicate with users in forums and get feedback on what should or can be improved further.

4. Decide on important keywords. Decide on the most important keywords to use for your sight. Include these keywords in the metatags, copy page, page title, and file names.

5. The Search Engine is your friend. Make friends with your search engine and don’t give it a hard time. Being nice and friendly to it will make its job easier to serve your site up to your target audience.

6. Focus. Focus on the topic at hand and nothing else. The rule is one topic per page.

7. Join the directories. Directories are repositories of knowledge done by human hands while search engine are huge databases collected by mostly machine methods. The relevancy of your page when joining the right directory may shoot through the roof. Of course, make sure you know what you are talking about.

8. Start a linking campaign. A most effective SEO method. This is a must to do. Ask your allies, strategic partners, friends and acquaintances to place your site’s URL link on their sites. With a short description this can draw traffic from other sites and increase exposure. Google especially ranks the importance of its sites by the number of sites linked to it.

9. Repetition is the key to victory. Keep repeating the above tips, supporting and increasing what works and killing what does not as fast as possible until the desired result is achieved.

In the world of search engine optimization, content matters a lot. If a site has amateur or worse falsified information, fewer and fewer browsers will want to visit it. They will even spread bad news faster than good news so expect a garbage site to be ignored even in a week’s time.

Common Misconceptions about Web Traffic and Search Engines

1. May 2008 08:29, shahjee

Starting and maintaining a website is not just about creating a homepage then some subpages then posting them in the internet. Especially if your planning on having an ecommerce site.

There tens of millions of websites in the internet and chances are high you are not alone with the site you have in mind. The competition can bury you if you don’t do anything to promote your site and let the people know that you are out there. Without any web traffic, your site is as good as non-existent.

Web traffic is a vital component in generating profit and a successful website. It determines the ranking and the rate of websites. If the web designers cannot produce the targeted visitors for the websites, the sale will go down.

In normal ways, the owner and the webmasters of a certain site are the persons in charge to carry the web traffic to a definite search engine.

Search engines are the main ingredient in order for the website to produce traffic and visitors.

Web traffic can be very important as well in terms of advertising. The old way of advertising in the real world is very costly, well not in web traffic. It is also very significant in terms of publishing the products. By means of web traffic business the product can be publicized without spending a lot of money.

Another important matter is, web traffic can generate income to the web owner. The websites must have a high standing in ranking in search engines and reliable information for the visitors.

On the other hand, search engines can maximize the generated target for the web visitors.  Unluckily, there are a lot of websites owners and webmasters who do not know the importance of search engine ranking.

Ranking in search engines is very important because it leads to web traffic. Most of the web owners want to have a good-looking website without taking the consideration of the ranking. Remember that belonging on the top rank can take you to the top.

The importance of web traffic must be given a huge concern and attention. Here are the lists of frequent error that the web owner usually committed.

Most of the web designers do not use the keywords efficiently. Keywords are very effective in terms of web traffic. It is the best way for the search engines to rank the websites. The keywords must be the key for the visitors to locate the site easily.

Replicating similar keywords. There are webmasters who keeps on repeating the same keywords over and over again. It is called keyword stocking. As a result, the search engine may skip the page or the entire website.

Raiding the pages and other websites. It is important for the web designer to know how important links are. Most of the time, there are web designers who rob icons from other websites and use it for their own purpose. The web designers should have a unique idea of their own. Search engines are very powerful in detecting the websites that have the same icon content. It is very important in order to prevent the sites from being out listed in the main search engines.

• There are webmasters and designers who use the keywords that are not connected to their websites.  One thing that they should do is to maintain websites that have protocol. The unconnected topics and keywords must be removed. Remember search engines are smart, it can consider the page as spam and be automatically eliminated from the list.

• Having stuffed keywords. There are websites that have a multiple graphic description. Stuffed keywords can make the websites layered and appeared awkward to the search engines. If the search engines detected the website parameter that contains massive amount of keywords and graphics, the search engine can consider the site as spam.

• There are websites that relies on the hidden text. The keywords should not be hidden or invisible. There are clever designers who hide keywords by making it appears as the same color with the site background.

• False presumption about search engines. There are web designers who presume that all search engines has the same category that plays the same functions and roles. Make it a point to learn about the appropriate requirements of each search engine.

• As much as possible don’t use free web hosting. One of the basic significance of web hosting is to have a promising increase on search engine ranking.

Web designers must not commit those said mistakes in order to gain high-ranking sites. It will also keep the websites from being banned by the search engines. Keep in mind that if the websites has a lot of visitors it can also promise the web owner a soaring profit.

Generate 15 Article Ideas in 30 Minutes or Less

27. Apr 2008 09:30, shahjee

Many people tell me they know writing articles and ezines is an effective internet marketing strategy. But they also tell me they procrastinate when it comes to this strategy because they are not sure what to write about.

Everyone has plenty of article ideas running around in their head. The difficulty is recognizing that these ideas are good article topics and then organizing your thoughts around those ideas.

The following questions will jump start your thinking about topics. List at least 3 ideas under each and you will have 15 topics to write about very quickly. Don't stop to evaluate whether it is a good idea or not - you can do that later. For now, get as many ideas down in writing as you can.

1. What questions do your customers or prospects ask frequently? Getting the same questions repeatedly is a sign that there is interest in the topic. Although you may think everyone knows how to find the best coach or develop a great marketing plan, there are many who will benefit from this information. I'm writing this article because I'm often asked how to get ideas for writing articles.

2. What are the best resources in your area of expertise? People searching for information are always looking for the best places to get information. Providing your readers with sources that can educate them about subjects pertaining to your business shows that you stay up to date in your field. For example, discuss your favorite books or websites related to your field and tell your readers why or what useful information they provide.

3. What are you most proud of about your service or industry? If your industry offers varying levels of guarantees, for example, write about the different types of guarantees. You can conclude with which better and why. You will want to be generic about this subject but in explaining the subject, you will show your expertise and also offer whatever you conclude is the best.

4. Whom can you interview that has a skill or expertise related to your niche: The interview can be formal or informal. You can then turn into an article or part of an eBook. For example, if you're a life coach, interview a former client about the experience of having a life coach. Or interview a business coach and discuss the differences between life and business coaches.

5. What current events can you tie into? As I write this, a pilot has just made an emergency landing. Potential topics for various coaches could include handling stress, overcoming the fear of flying, organizing your will, etc.

I'm guessing that once you get started with this process, you'll end up with a lot more than 15 ideas!

7 Tried and True Ways to Get More Subscribers

5. Apr 2008 20:26, shahjee

You've made the decision to start your own ezine or newsletter. You've formatted your newsletter, written an article or tip or two and sent it to your parents, siblings and friends.

Great! Now what?

The question I'm asked most from new ezine/newsletter publishers is how to get more subscribers on their list.

Here are 7 simple ways for you to grow your ezine list - - with integrity and authenticity!

1. Make it easy.

It's amazing to me how many people have only one sign-up spot on their website or don't include an invitation to sign up for their newsletter in their email signature.

You need to make it glaringly obvious to EVERYONE that you would like to share your newsletter with them: put a sign-up box on *every* page of your website, include an invitation in your Resource Box and on your email signature. Include a note on the back of your business card and any brochures or flyers you send out.

2. Coregistration.

Speak with ezine publishers who offer products or services which are complementary to yours.

When someone signs up for your newsletter, you refer your colleague's newsletter and vice versa. Coregistration has the benefit of adding subscribers to both your and your colleague's newsletter with no real effort.

3. Squeeze Page.

A squeeze page consists of either a simple one page website where the sole goal is to collect email addresses for your ezine OR it's a "front page" over your actual website where visitors can either choose to enter their information, click away or, in most cases, click to "enter site".

4. Ezine Directories.

You can submit your ezine to online directories such at Charlie Page's Directory of Ezines (www.directoryofezines.com). The Directory allows people to search ezines by topic and decide if they wish to subscribe. It also allows other ezine publishers to contact you about using one of your articles in their newsletter.

5. Advertising.

Take a good look at other websites/newsletters which cater to your target market and advertise either on their sites or in their ezines.

By focusing only on those sites/ezines which cater to your niche, you will have a higher chance of getting interested prospects as subscribers.

6. Direct Mail.

Send a postcard to members of your target audience where you do nothing aside from inform them about your ezine and invite them to sign up.

If you are a virtual assistant who works with real estate agents, you could send a postcard to all the local (and not-so-local) real estate agents and invite them to become a subscriber.

7. Speaking.

One of the fastest ways to get sign-ups for your newsletter is to speak at public events and offer a susbscription to your ezine. You can speak at your local chamber of commerce, BNI Chapter, real estate company, or any civic groups such as the Rotary Club or Lions.

You can also offer a drawing where you give something away in exchange for names and email addresses. Just remember to let your audience know that everyone *wins* a subscription to your newsletter!

There are dozens of additional strategies to get people to sign up for your newsletter. Do some research and choose those which most resonate with you. Remember the old adage: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" -- the same is true in obtaining a thousand subscribers!

Internet Marketing: Is It Appropriate If You Conduct Only Local Business?

30. Mar 2008 22:35, shahjee

Why would you bother with internet marketing if you're only interested in business in your community? There are quite a few good reasons and we will answer them here.

This is the question many business owners and independent professionals have because they see the internet as only being important if you are interested in national or international business. Nothing could be further from the truth. Targeted and effective marketing on the net is very possible in several different venues. Below, I will discuss these.

1. Your website-this is probably not a concept that is debated much but is worth discussing. The website is it an attraction tool that you can drive potential clients to within your local market. The site can be customized to your local market with information that pertains to the local market and has resources that are available in the area.

2. A Blog-this can also be geared toward your local market as it is a forum for you to discuss just about anything that either touches on your business or helps potential prospects get to know you as a person. You can incorporate all types of local references including commenting on issues in your city or providing information about resources that are available. You can use keywords and optimization to drive local businesses to you when they are seeking information that is oriented to your area of expertise.

3. Social networking-many social networking sites allow you to add a local flavor or to connect with people within your city your community. You can even create a form on many sites that would be primarily for other businesses and prospects in your locale. Many sites even have the opportunity to create a forum which again could be oriented to a specific area.

4. Articles and Press Releases-while these can be more difficult to target there are opportunities to mention that you have events or services within a specific city or town or state. If you mention this within your articles and press releases they can be seen by local residents who are searching within your specialty.

Lastly, if you can drive traffic from other areas outside of your own, you can develop alliances and affiliates who can handle that business and pay you a percentage of the revenue. My philosophy is that if you can become a "rainmaker" no matter where that might be you can find competent business owners or professionals who can handle that service and pay you passive income.

I encourage you not to hold back on your internet marketing because of concerns over creating business outside of your local market. Targeted properly, you can clearly communicate in a way that will drive the type of traffic you are looking for.

Sorry, But That Wasn't Your List After All

30. Mar 2008 22:11, shahjee

Whether your business is small or large, domestic or international, online or offline, you are costing your business money if you are not aggressively capturing every visitor's contact information including their e-mail address.

A now readily accepted cliche states that the money is in the list. That is ever so true now than it ever has been before. By accepting this universal truth, you have just entered the world of competitive profits and professionalism.

E-mail, although it has gone through numerous changes and legal adversities over the years, is still one of the best forms of communication with your customer if it is done right and appears to them to be first class and not spam. This can be done inexpensively as well.

For example, every business owner needs a website ever it be so humble and the ability to capture your visitor's e-mail address preferably with a professional autoresponder. Why is this so important?

First, most people do not buy immediately and you want the ability to contact them later with your product or service. Second, this will make your life so much more easier because the whole process in getting their e-mail address is automated so that you can spend your time doing more important tasks.

The next important activity for your business is bringing large amounts of laser targeted traffic to your websites . Different avenues of doing this would be writing articles and using Hub pages, Squidoo, Digg to name just a few.

And one of the best sophisticated techniques that is starting to get more press attention is called viral marketing. Viral marketing if used correctly could literally bring thousands of buyers and interested visitors to your website(s) in record time.

I don't think enough is said or written about the importance of adding viral marketing to your marketing campaigns and the awesome power this proven concept has to destroy your closest competitors.

Attaining traffic not only by your means but also by the efforts of other enthusiastic marketers (partners as I see them) can take a website from 10 to 100 visitors a day to 500 to 1000 or more in very little time.

Brilliant business people in all walks of life will tell you that their wealth factor is directly tied to the success of others within their companies and organizations.

I think it would be safe to say that without these partner affiliates, they would not be where they are today. Remember this if nothing else.

To achieve massive size lists, there are many websites that successfully work on the premise that you join their organization, add simple codes to your website and every time a legitimate and professional popup or popunder appears, you get a credit.

These credits then allow your ad to appear as an unobtrusive ad on someone else's website and so on. This is one example of viral marketing that is welcomed and read by all these visitors.

Everyone is thus creating a huge list based upon everyone else's efforts all working together toward one common goal in internet marketing. Now I think the question is: "Are these types of websites a good thing to join?"

Yes and no. The concept is fantastic. But here lies a potential problem that requires your utmost attention.

You want to make absolute sure that if you are going to spend precious time and money in bringing traffic to your website, then please don't waste it. Always try to capture their e-mail address with an incentive, free ebook or something they can only get from you.

But you may ask: "How can I do this if I'm using their replicated website?" Simple. Join an organization that allows you to bring traffic to the replicated website (that is yours) then professionally captures those visitors' e-mails and then happily hands every one of those e-mail addresses obtained to you.

What? I can have best of both worlds? You sure can. In fact, there are a few companies that will periodically send you a list of all visitors who have joined through your efforts or with a membership they will automatically send these critical, cash-making e-mail addresses straight to your autoresponder.

How's that for automation. Now you are starting to build your massive e-mail list legally that will bring you untold financial rewards for the rest of your life.

But this is where you have to be knowledgeable about who to work with and those to avoid. Sadly, most companies will only allow you mail to this massive list that you've helped built every so often but will never give you rights to their contact information.

These companies have absolute say in how often you get to mail the very visitors you've brought to them in the first place. This can be very frustrating considering all your hard work. Only then do you realize that this large mailing list wasn't your list after all.

My advice: Take that first step and join the best viral marketing company that will provide their professional website to draw huge amounts of visitors but then rewards you with actually sending you this list of e-mail addresses directly to you or to your autoresponder.

That's what I call working smarter and taking advantage of viral marketing strategies that is working for thousands of website owners all over the world.

How To Generate Low Cost Website Traffic

29. Mar 2008 10:29, shahjee

There is one hard and fast rule in generating income for your website: A steady flow of website traffic. If no one goes to your site, it hardly bares a chance of generating an income. Many sites have tried and failed in doing so, and these results to the sites demise. It takes money to maintain an income generating site; it also takes money to make money.

BUT, it doesn’t take a whole caboodle of cash to generate website traffic for your site.

Ever wonder how does big hit sites drive traffic top their site? Most of them are spending tons of money to drive the traffic to their sites, investing in many advertising campaigns and different forms of marketing schemes and gimmickries. This is all worthwhile because, well, they are what they are now, high earning, big hitting websites.

You don’t have to do this if you don’t really have their resources. There are many ways to generate low cost website traffic without having to spend what you don’t have or can’t afford. Many people have banked on high cost methods and have ended up losing their shirt over it.

Here I present to you the Top five ways to generate low cost website traffic that could help your site a whole lot. Even if you only get a small percentage of successful visitors in to client ratio it still works especially if you get a high number of website traffic.

Exchange Links

This is a sure and proven method. Rarely would you see a site where there is no link to another site. Many webmasters are willing to exchange links with one another so that they could produce more public awareness about their sites. You’ll soon see and feel the sudden upsurge of the traffic coming in to your site from other sites.

A major prerequisite in exchanging links with other sites is having the same niche or content as the other site. They should share a common subject so that there is continuity in the providing of service and information to what interests your target traffic.

Exchanging links also boosts your chances of getting a high ranking in search engine results. It is common knowledge that search engines ranks high sites that have inbound and outbound theme-related links. With a good ranking position in the search engines, you will generate more traffic in your website without the high costs.

Traffic Exchange

This is like exchanging links but on a different higher level. This may cost a bit more than exchanging or trading links but could be made cheaper because you get to earn credits. You can use those credits when viewing others traffic, while you earn credits when someone views yours.

Traffic exchange services are the viewing of another’s site or page. This is done vice versa where a site can use your sites contents and so can you to his or her site. You both benefit from each others efforts to generate traffic. The other sites visitors can go to your pages and know more about your site as well as

theirs. Once again the public awareness of your sites existence is boosted.

Write and Submit Articles

There are many e-zines and online encyclopedias in the internet which provides free space for articles to be submitted. If you want to save costs, you can do the articles yourself. There are many freelance writers who are willing to write for you for a small fee, but to save money, it is wise to do those articles yourself.

Write articles that are themed along with the niche of your site. Write something that you have expertise on so that when they read it, they can feel your knowledge about the subject and will be eager to go to your site. Write articles that produce tips and guidelines to the subject or niche your site has.

Include a resource box at the end of your article that can link them to your site. Write a little about yourself and your site. If you provide a light, information-laden and interesting article, they will go to your site for more.

Make a Newsletter.

This may sound like hard work because of all the articles you may need to use to build a newsletter but on the contrary, this is not so. There are many writers and sites that are willing to provide free articles as long as they can get their name in on your newsletter. This will also provide free advertising for them as well.

As your newsletter gets pass around, you can widen your public awareness and build an opt-in list that can regularly visit your site.

Join Online Communities and Forums

This only requires your time and nothing else. You can share your knowledge and expertise with many online communities as well as your website. You can get free advertising when you go to forums that have the same subject or niche with your site.

Share your two cents and let them see how knowledgeable you are with the subject. As you build your reputation, you also build the reputation of your site, making it a reputable and honest business that could be frequented and trusted by many people.

"Product Launch Formula" - Don't Make This Critical Mistake!

23. Mar 2008 06:13, shahjee

"Product Launch Formula" is the current hot topic in the world of "internet marketing." Jeff Walker is on the verge of releasing his much awaited "Product Launch Formula 2.0.

Those who own the original Product Launch Formula wonder "what's different in version 2.0" and those who didn't get the original, wonder if it's right for them. On March 25th, the noise level will reach a peak, and thousands will decide that the new Product Launch Formula is right for them.

Strangely, it's at that point that many will make a HUGE mistake, when that mistake has never been easier to avoid.

The mistake they'll make is that they'll buy Product Launch Formula 2.0 on emotion rather than logic. They'll buy it on impulse rather than taking a few minutes to actually shop around.

I've known Jeff Walker for many years. I think that we first met in 2003 at a Joel Christopher workshop. I use Jeff Walker's teachings almost every day. I've so steeped myself in his tactics that I often use them without conscious thought.

So, to me the decision of whether or not anyone launching or relaunching a product over the internet can benefit tremendously from getting and using a copy of Product Launch Formula is a non-question.

Since Product Launch Formula even teaches you to treat a major affiliate product promotion like a product launch, I honestly believe that serious affiliate marketers should consider getting a copy. Many of Jeff's case-studies are of affiliate marketers who applied Jeff's teaching to affiliate promotions and easily earned high five-figure commissions. To me, that's impressive!

I'm going to make the very big assumption that after careful analysis, you've concluded that Product Launch Formula is right for you.

Your next logical question should be, "Who do you get a copy from." Product Launch Formula will be promoted by a lot of affiliates, and many of them (including myself) will offer bonuses as a way to differentiate THEIR offers.

Since you'll end up with the same basic product no matter who you get it from, doesn't it make sense to buy on the basis of who offers the bonus most appropriate for you?

That's where that "critical mistake" that I warned you about in the title comes in. That's where that critical mistake can so easily be avoided.

You get the very best deal on Product Launch Formula by taking your time (not reacting on emotion or impulse) and actually comparing bonuses. I'd go as far as to jot them do on a sheet of paper, with columns for comparing them. Just make a list of affiliate offer which caught your attention, and list them in one column. Then have other columns where you list major benefits. Then simply fill in your decision grid and make a logical decision.

Here are some of the tools that you SHOULD use in making the best decision... in locating "The best Product Launch Formula Bonus" ... 1) Use the search engines. There will be a LOT of people talking about, and comparing bonuses, so just tap into their discussion... to capitalize on their research. Go to Google and "google" phrases such as "Product Launch Formula Bonus," "Best Product Launch Formula Bonuses," "Jeff Walker's Product Launch Formula," etc., and then check out leads that seem promising.

This approach may point you to a Product Launch Formula bonus that is more appropriate for your needs that you would have otherwise COMPLETELY missed.

Take your time and actually look around. Since many affiliates have already started promoting, this is something that you can actually do now ;-)

2) Use discussion forums. Many popular internet marketing discussion forums will likely have threads where bonuses are compared. There are even people who will start forums just for that purpose. One such forum is at... where else, http://ProductLaunchFormulaBonusesDiscussionForum.com

Other forums that you should check out include The Internet Marketing Warriors, and for insiders, The Internet Marketing Inner Circle.

On these forums, caring people actually share what Product Launch Formula Bonuses they have uncovered. Depending upon how the forum is setup, you can join the discussion and discuss the pros and cons of each bonus. Some forums restrict discussion more than others, so find one that meets your needs.

The search engines frequently spider popular forums, so you'll even be able to find forums discussing Product Launch Formula Bonuses through the search engines.

3) Ask for recommendations. Simply email, PM or Skype your friends and ask them about bonuses that really caught their attention.

4) Ask if a given bonus is really right for you. No matter how great a Product Launch Formula Bonus sounds, if you're not going to use it, it's worthless to you.

Look for bonuses that fit in with your plans in actually using the product.

Avoid bonuses that will side-track you from completing important projects, and will just add clutter to your harddrive.

A logical bonus, if you are actually on the verge of launching a product, or relaunch a product, or doing a major affiliate promotion would include things such as:

- A mailing to a large list which could jumpstart your launch, leading to direct sales, new affiliates, new JV partners, and lots of buzz for your launch.

- A live seminar where you could brainstorm with potential launch or joint venture partners, where you could perhaps put YOUR project on the hotseat, or where you could clarify things that you need to understand to pull off a successful product launch.

- One-on-one consulting with someone who has actually done product launches before. Be careful with consulting though, since there are a lot of "pretend experts" out there. That's where you can use the search engines to actually check out the consultant BEFORE entrusting your business to him or her.

Ok, let wrap it up since this article is getting long :-)

Product Launch Formula 2.0 is a great product. Once you realize that it meets your needs the only real decision that you have is who to get it from. When you condense that decision down to its very essence, the decision-maker should be whoever offers "The Best Product Launch Formula Bonus."

You decide what "best" means to you, then you get the one that matches up to your needs.

Follow that simple formula and you can't go wrong. You'll be acting on logic and intelligence rather than emotion and being rushed into a decision. Since you'll then make a great decision, you'll also be much happier with it :-)

Tips on How to Make Money from Your Very Own Website

22. Mar 2008 22:06, shahjee

If you already have your own website and have a good number of followers visiting everyday, why not adopt means to make money from it? Here are some tips to help you start out.

Millions of website owners all over the world make money and earn substantial income from their websites. If you already own one, your website might just be your key to financial success. Of course, this assumes that your website already has a stable number of visitors daily. The more online users you attract, the more money you are bound to make.

Without much ado, here are some of the many strategies you can adopt for you to do this through your website. Feel free to use as many of them as you possibly can.

1. Join an affiliate program. Affiliate marketing is one of the most rewarding means to make money online. With an affiliate program, you get paid by displaying ads of other companies. All you need to do is adding the banner then get paid for every sale you refer.

2. Sell your own products or ideas. It is a very good idea to sell your own products online. If you have writing ability, why not write your very own eBook? You can even compile your old blog posts or all your works into an eBook which you can sell online. If eBooks are not your thing, you can look around for a profitable PLR product and market it as your own.

3. Blog your way to success. Again, if you have amply writing skills, you can have your own blog page or offer to blog for companies. Many online businesses have found blogging to be an effective advertising method and are looking for freelancers to blog for them.

4. Be an eBayer. You can easily set-up your own eBay store. eBay sells billions of dollars worth of merchandise each year. Why not join and take part in thief ever growing market? Use the buy low, sell high strategy and make money selling without having to set-up your own website.

5. Google AdSense. You can make money online by selling advertising space. You do not have to resort to banner ads which are not only annoying but may not be as effective. Try out Google AdSense now, and join the thousands who earn comfortable living through AdSense alone.

6. Create a paid members area within your website. If your site already has a good number of visitors, try to find out which part of your site seems to be most visited. You can then create a members only site about those which you think have high demand. Your member's only site can be about anything from courses, trainings, fan clubs, newsletters, dating service, horoscopes, and so on.

7. Sell off your site. If you have had your site for years yet you are not earning as much. Why not sell it off and earn profits much higher than waiting it out? You can even create your site, have it listed in major search engines then sell it off afterwards.

Paid URL Inclusion

21. Mar 2008 07:22, shahjee

Advertising your services or products on the Internet is both extremely effective and extremely competitive. There are several ways to go about attracting traffic to your website; Pay-Per-Click is one of the options you can choose from, along with developing an SEO, or search engine optimization campaign. Both pay-per-click and SEO are targeted to get your website placed as close to the top of search engine results as possible. One of the differences is that it takes minutes to set up a pay-per-click campaign versus months for a good SEO campaign.

Pay-Per-Click is a simple type of paid advertising that most search engines, including some of the largest ones, now offer. It requires a bid for a "per-click" basis, which translates to your company paying the bid amount every time the search engine directs a visitor to your site. There is the added bonus that when a per-click site sends your website traffic, your site often appears in the results of other prevalent search engines.

As with all marketing campaigns, there are advantages and disadvantages. If you understand the process and monitor your pay-per-click campaign frequently, it can be very effective. One of the greatest advantages is that you never have to tweak your web pages to change your position in search engine results, as you must do in a typical SEO campaign. What you do have to do in a pay-per-click campaign is pay a fee.

Another advantage is the simplicity of the pay-per-click process. You just bid and you're up and running. It doesn't demand any specific technical knowledge, though the more you know about search engines and keywords, the easier - and more effective - the process will be.

The downside is that pay-per-click is essentially a bidding war. A higher bid than yours will lower your position on search engine results. This means that you will have to raise your bid to regain your position - which can obviously become quite expensive, especially if you are bidding on a popular keyword.

In order to determine if pay-per-click is a cost effective form of marketing for your business, you must do some computing to figure out how much each visitor to your site is worth. You can compute this value by dividing the profit you make on your website over a given period of time by the total number of visitors for that same time period. For example, if your site made $5,000 in profits and there were 2,5000 hits, each visitor would be theoretically worth 50 cents. The basic formula is profits divided by visitors.

The figure of 50 cents per visitor is the point at which your business breaks even. The idea, of course, is to show a profit, not to merely cover your costs. Therefore, you are aiming at a figure less than 50 cents per click.

Be aware that the most popular keywords often cost considerably more than 50 cents a click. The only way around this is to bid less for these phrases or you will be paying too much for each individual hit.

The key (pun intended) to success is to learn everything you can about search engine keyword research. The good news is there isn't a limit to the amount of keywords you can add to your bid because additional keywords do not add additional cost. This translates into a lot less hassle for you because there is no need to optimize your site to index a particular set of keywords.

Obviously, some keywords are much more effective than others are, but they will not cost you anything except time to set-up your account in your pay-per-click bid. Of the popular search engines that offer pay-per-click, one called Overture provides an online tool that will give you the data on how often particular keywords are entered into their search engine. They also offer suggestions for keywords after you enter a description of your site.

In pay-per-click, this written description is crucial. You must understand that the object of your description is not to generally attract visitors, but to be as specific as possible so that only those visitors who are likely to buy your service or product go to your site. You must use expert marketing copy to guarantee that your description is both precise and enticing to attract the most ideal candidates to your site. This description is your most powerful tool to insure that your bid is profitable.

Another essential element of pay-per-click advertising is that you constantly monitor your bid. It is very important that you bear in mind that the results of the top search engines providing pay-per-click advertising, which are Overture and Adwords Select, usually appear on other popular search engines. Because of this, the competition for top ranking is intense, and very often you will find that the bidding price balloons too high for pay-per-click to yield a profit.

If this happens, it is advisable to withdraw your bid on that particular keyword and try another one. Remember: when you pay too much per click to make a profit, you are in essence losing the bidding war.

Since losing is not acceptable, you must have a plan in place to closely track the effectiveness of your keyword. It is advisable to monitor your keywords on at least a monthly basis.

Not only is careful monitoring important, but the analysis of visitor behavior can produce invaluable knowledge about consumer motivation, habits, and trends. Expert monitoring and consumer analysis is essential to your overall business needs, and will also insure that your pay-per-click campaign is a success.

Be Fair and Start Online Business the Hard Way

16. Mar 2008 05:00, shahjee

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Oliver Junkwagon the second and I like my father before me think it's only fair to do things the hard way. It's a tradition from a long line of Junkwagons. Why would anyone want to do everything the hard way you ask? Well, before you finish this article you will be convinced that my way is the only way to do business on the internet.

Have you ever watched the professional pool players? The reason they are so good is they never take the easy shots. Oh no, they always take the most difficult shot on the table. That's how they get so good by taking the hardest shot they can. My dad even made his own balls and cues. So there you have it, proof positive that doing things the easy way isn't any good for doing business online.

What's that you say? Oh I see, you think I'm crazy don't you. You want more proof do you? Ok, you win. But you're only making things harder for me and you know what will happen. I'll get better, that's what.

I don't understand why you would want to do things the easy way anyway. Where's the fun and sport in that? Where's the sportsmanship to the poor millionaires working their butts off the easy way to beat you? It's not nice to interrupt someone vacationing in Anguilla with some unfair attack on their business by doing things the easy way.

For example this one girl is only a teenager and her travel site makes thousands each month! Now I ask you how fair is that? You can bet she feels bad when she picks up her checks and isn't she supposed to have a few hard knocks for crying out loud? However since you insist I'll give you some good advice.

Spend lots of time looking at the get rich quick one page websites that charge big money for web business information. You can get this information for free on my friend Walter's website but please don't do that. It's only fair to pay your dues and spend some of your money. If you do you'll get this awful feeling of guilt from getting an unfair head start.

For sure the one big thing you want to do is invent something new. The wheel is someone else's invention and won't do a thing for your ego. Whatever you do always consult your ego for a go ahead. Do not copy anyone or anything in any way but do everything from scratch. An absolute must is to build your own computer and code your website by hand so you don't have too much time on your hands. Remember that idle hands are the workshop of evil.

Be sure to drink a lot and go to nightclubs and parties. You will have lots of "friends" to help and give you advice. Whatever you do don't go to Google and start entering Keywords of things you are interested in and making lists of things you know something about. Pick something you know nothing about and if it's something that makes you sick then that could be your Niche. You can probably get away with not writing your own operating system and browser like I did but don't go too far with this or you will be cheating.

If you need advice on what people are searching for on the net then ask your best friend or your mother. Be careful of those keyword analyzer type programs and websites because they can cost money and dip into your entertainment account. Try to find a free one if you must cheat this way.

There is one company that supplies everything a person could need to start an online business. They make everything too easy and frankly it just makes me sick! How in the dickens is a person supposed to hold his head up when cheating this way. This is the same company that teenager uses to make her lousy three thousand, oh great, my wife just told me it was more now. That's not fair at all. Everyone should waste some money and do things the hard way!

For inspiration be sure to spend lots of time watching TV. So many great ideas have been removed from TV is why it's called the vast wasteland. If you must do keyword research then use the big words like making money, or girls. Don't bother with the small niche type keywords with only a few thousand searches. That would be unfair.

One big thing you have to be careful about is E-Books on internet business. There are lots of expensive ones and most of these are a fair value and the only ones you should use. Don't even think of reading that free E-Book on my friends website as this would be doing things the easy way and how will you ever get better that way?

I read that excellent free E-Book by accident and felt guilty for months. It's a good thing I had already paid lots of money for the same information. If you must then you could find links to all these things on Walter Minton's website so you can see how unfair they really are. These guys help each other and it's just not fair to us Junkwagons.

Why would you want a completely unfair advantage in starting your business. How do you think you will feel after your site gets more traffic and sales than sites that have been online for years! How will you stand there with a silly grin on your face telling your friends about your (unfair) success? And there's nothing scarier than a successful teenage girl with her hands on her hips.

Landing Pages, Flypaper Or Trampoline?

10. Mar 2008 07:14, shahjee

Landing pages have the ability to grab and hold us like fly no-fly paper or repel us like jumping on the trampling. The question is what impact does your landing page have on the people who visit your website. As I talk to people who are just getting into SEO (search engine optimization), all they focus on our rankings in traffic. We have to remember that “rankings” and “traffic” are not the end but a means to the end. That end is visitors to your site that take advantage of the solutions that you offer. We can have a lot of traffic to our website but if no one is sticking around long enough to see if our solutions can solve their problems then that traffic does not mean anything.

A lot of thought must go into your landing pages, both from a search engine perspective and from a customer perspective.

From a Search Engine perspective:

This is covered in Search Engines 101 Paid Vs Natural Search so I am not going to go into detail here.

From a Customer Perspective:

Your landing page has to do one thing, answer the questions that the searcher had in mind when he typed in his key words. The searcher type in his search terms because he has a problem, needs a solution or is in some kind of “pain”. You have about two seconds to convince him that you understand what he is going through and what he needs. The last thing a searcher wants to see is that you can jump higher, run faster and do it better than the competition. He just doesn't care (yet). Besides, most of the websites that he already visited probably stated that they do that. The challenge is to show the searcher that you have the answers to his needs. How do we do that?

1. Think of as many questions as you can that might be on the mind of a visitor to that specific landing page.

2. Choose one of the questions to be the title of that specific landing page. Use the other questions as sub points or topics in the outline of the page.

3. The content underneath each heading will be a description of the problem. It is very important that when you describe the problem you do it from your client's perspective.

4. After describing two or three scenarios that your client may fall into closeout with the paragraph that describes your qualifications for dealing with the above scenarios. This is where you put in how me years of experience, the combined experience of your team or your experience in the marketplace.

5. The last thing is to have a call to action. The idea is that if your client falls into one of the scenarios described it would be natural for them to do the call for action to get help with their problem.

For example, if someone is doing a search on long-term care insurance they may only have a general idea of what you're looking for. When they come to a landing page that has a question like “what happens to your nest egg if you suffer an illness or an injury that requires long-term care?” Then in the description of the problem they read that one year of long-term care can cost between $90,000 and $130,000 and as a result of this high costs it will either force you into bankruptcy or dependency on your children or family to take care of you. (Not a pretty picture.) After you add your qualifications, whatever they are, you put in your call to action. It could be something like “for a free quote and help in understanding what your options are fill out form below and one of our experts will contact you within the next 48 hours”.

So the question remains, are your landing pages flypaper or trampolines? If you are not sure give us a call and we will do a free evaluation of your site. This will help determine whether or not changes or in order.

King Or Queen Of The Internet - It Could Be You!

7. Mar 2008 22:20, shahjee

If you want to become a King or Queen of the internet, you are going to have to do certain things and possess certain qualities to succeed.

The path to internet business success is filled with trials and tribulations. However, to become an online master, you need to rise above these obstacles. Many people begin working online under the false presumption that it really can't be that difficult. While it's not difficult per se, there is a learning curve involved. Some may gawk at the idea of it taking 3-6 months to become a master in your chosen area. Success doesn't happen overnight though. Many experienced internet home business marketers will tell you that it takes time to become an online King or Queen.

Attitude Is Everything

The most important thing that will lead you to becoming a master of the internet is your own attitude. You have to possess a strong will to make things happen, no matter what comes your way. If there are others having success marketing on the internet, why can't you be one of them? If you can believe that it is possible, it will be possible.

Trial And Error

You can read all about how to do something in a book, but until you actually get out there and do it for yourself, you'll never know exactly what it takes. Any new business requires trial and error. You have to apply what you've learned.

Imagine that your business is an adventure. You are unsure of what is to come, but you are willing to take on anything that comes your way. You have to be able to overcome obstacles along the way. To become a King or Queen of the Internet, you have to be willing to go outside of your comfort zone.

Invest In Your Future

In the beginning of your marketing experience there are many things that you can do to promote your business for free. However, somewhere along the way you are going to need to start investing in your business. My advice is sooner rather than later.

Many marketers make the tragic mistake of putting very little into their advertising budget. The old adage is definitely true, "If you want to make money, you have to spend money." You could spend $3,000 per month advertising your business, but if you make $30,000 that same month, it's all relative.

You also have to reinvest your earnings. That brand new house or car might look intriguing, but just think of how much more you could have if you are patient and grow your business. Don't get greedy.

It is entirely possible for you to become an internet marketing King or Queen, but it won't happen instantly. Be patient and keep learning.

Creative and Profitable Ways to Use Autoreponders

1. Mar 2008 02:12, shahjee

An interested visitor who has been strolling through your site has finally come to just what she is looking for and is about to make a purchase. It's a sunny afternoon, and her cat, who happens to be sitting on the moss under the visitor's large fifty-year-old snow-rose bonsai tree, suddenly jumps down, and the priceless tree topples over.

In the blink of an eye, your visitor exits your site, and your sale is dust - unless you have had the foresight to utilize an autoresponder that has captured her email address. If you have installed an autoresponder, you can then follow-up with her, and in all probability, make the sale when the poor woman has finished repotting her precious bonsai.

Autoresponders are remarkable, versatile programs that do so much more than just automatically answer your email. Here are a few ideas that will help you to creatively and productively use your autoresponder to transform the casual visitor into a profitable customer. Use your autoresponder to:

1. Publish a newsletter. Certain quality autoresponders will manage subscriptions and follow-up with interested prospects. Your newsletter can keep your visitors informed about your services or products, while building your reputation as a credible expert in your particular business.

2. Publish a newsletter only for your affiliates. Inform them of current sales you are running and of promotional material that your affiliates can use themselves to increase their commissions. Include tips, advice, and techniques that your affiliates can use to successfully go out and promote your business.

3. Write reviews. Cover books, software, music, e-books, movies, etc., and put each review in an autoresponder. Review your affiliate programs, using a link to your affiliate's page in your autoresponder.

4. Distribute your articles. Writing and distributing targeted articles is a powerful tool to build your business credibility, bring traffic to your site, and increase your sales potential. If your articles contain valuable information, many editors will print what is known as a resource box for you. A resource box contains your bio and a brief description of your service or product. It can also contain your autoresponder address. Let's say you've written fifty articles. Put them on separate autoresponder accounts and create a master list that contains the titles of each article, the autoresponder address, and a brief abstract. Then promote your master list. Additionally, include your publishing guidelines so your affiliates can add their articles to your list, increasing the number of writers who are represented in your article list.

5. Create mailing lists. Inform subscribers to your articles when you've written new ones that they may want to publish in their own newsletter or website.

6. Automate your sales process. Use an ad to insure repeated exposure of your message, which has been proven to effectively increase sales. In your ad, put your autoresponder address where a visitor will be exposed to numerous marketing materials. This multiplies the chances of converting visitors into customers. For example, if you're selling a particular product, put testimonials about how spectacular it is on your autoresponder, and add a detailed, enticing description of your product.

7. Distribute advertising. Let's say you sell advertising on your website or in your newsletter or e-zine. Set your autoresponder to send the information about rates and how to place an ad automatically to all prospects' email addresses. Then have your autoresponder follow-up. It can also send notification of any special deals you are currently offering.

8. Distribute an email course. Each day, have your autoresponder send out another lesson. Just be sure that each lesson has quality content - not a sales pitch. Your content will do the selling for you, and will do it much more effectively. You can include tips centered on a different topic for each lesson, illustrating how your product will benefit the reader. Include the tangible benefits the visitor will reap by purchasing your product. Make sure to include a paragraph or two at the end of each lesson enticing your prospect to consider making a purchase.

9. Automate a reminder about your service or product after a visitor has completed your course. This will increase the possibility of sales from visitors who have taken your course but are dragging their feet about actually making a purchase. You can also use these reminders to promote new products or services, and the products and services of your affiliate programs.

10. Distribute free reports. This gives your visitor an idea of the type of information you can provide and the quality of your product or service. Make sure these reports are not sales letters or you will more than likely lose a potential customer than gain a sale.

11. Create trivia quizzes on your site and place the answers in an autoresponder. Your visitor will then be motivated to request your autoresponder, and you will have a record of the visitors' email addresses who took your quiz. Or create a contest and have any visitors that enter send their responses to your autoresponder. Your autoresponder can be set-up to send them a confirmation of their entry.

12. Offer a trial version of your product. Give your prospects a sample of your ebook, course, software, membership, etc. People who are exposed to a little taste often end up wanting the whole pie. You can also capture their email addresses when you offer them a free trial from your website. Set up your autoresponder to give instructions on how to obtain their free trial, and then make sure to follow-up to try and close the sale.

13. Link to hidden pages on your autoresponder. For example, a hidden page could be your affiliate page that contains graphics, promotional articles, and text links that interested affiliates can make use of. Inform visitors that they may have free access to your affiliate page by simply requesting your autoresponder. You will then gather a list of visitors who may be interested in becoming your affiliates.

14. Use an autoresponder on your order page. Post a request form for visitors to be notified of special offers or discounts in the future. This creates a very effective mailing list that contains the names of people who are already your customers.

15. Put your links page on your autoresponder. It should contain up to fifty links that would be of particular interest to your visitors. Make sure to add your own promotional copy at the top or bottom of this page.

Now that you have proof that autoresponders can be used creatively, see if you can come up with some brilliant ideas of your own!

Why pay for advertising that does not yield sales?

29. Feb 2008 01:35, shahjee

Before you part with your cold hard cash, consider various ways to increase and maximize your conversions. The term conversion simply represents the number of website visitors that take the action that the web publisher desires. In most cases, conversion refers to an individual browsing a website and purchasing the product(s) or service(s) being sold. The idea is that a browser has been converted into a buyer.

What if you could increase the number of people that visit your site to customers who purchase or take action on your site by 1 percent. What would a 1 percent increase in conversion mean to your bottom line? Even on low ticket items, a 1 percent increase in conversions can be potentially staggering when considered over time.

How do you increase conversions?

Obviously the copy is critical in converting a 'browser' into a 'buyer' and while a webpage should be optimized for search engine spiders, search engine optimization should not be at the expense of web surfers. Webmasters must balance search engine optimization with sensible copy that calls the website visitor to the appropriate action.

What about advertising?

Keyword advertising can be very effective. In order to increase the conversion of keyword advertising, create continuity between your keyword and your landing page. Use the same words in the ad as in the landing page. Keep in mind that landing pages do not have to be part of a websites normal navigation. Webmasters can customize landing pages to cater to a specific audience, advertisement, or search term.

Ultimately, the goal is all about ROI or return on investment--publishers aim to make more than they spend. For every dollar you spend in advertising, you want to make a profit of $ 2.00 or better. That means in many cases you will need to monitor any changes in sales and web traffic, and determine what specific actions are resulting in the sales increases.

When evaluating advertising campaigns, consider whether the results will be long term or short term. Long term results from a short term expense could involve a website design. Short term results are generally things like ezine advertisements that result in sharp sales spikes that don't generally last.

Consider whether the expense is a one time cost or ongoing. Equally important, determine whether you can reliably track and measure the results of the advertising campaign. Can the results be reproduced by spending more money?

Targeted advertising will convert at a higher rate than non-targeted advertising. It is critical that advertising be targeted, so that you can maximize your conversion and increase your ROI.

On the other hand, if you have a low conversion rate, spending money on advertising is not likely going to produce significant results or a high ROI--so before you part with any hard earned cash take a look at your conversion rate.

Why pay for terms that are not converting?

Monitoring is critical to any advertising campaign. As a webmaster, you have a whole host of tools that allow you to track the actions that your visitors take. Use these tools to analyze and test theories that relate to conversions. When determining areas of low conversion, evaluate weblogs. Look at the abandon rate by viewing single access web pages. Use cookies to track the actions that browsers on a website take, do they return and purchase at a later date? Another option is to track customer actions using javascript that is embedded in the website's webpages.

Pay particular attention to what keywords result in traffic, and what keywords result in actual sales. Anyone can purchase traffic with the keyword phrase "free money" but how many of those who click are going to take the desired action on your webpage? Keyword terms that are closely related to the product or service being sold are going to have a higher conversion. It is important to filter phrases or keywords, that do not convert or result in unrelated traffic (due to synonym use).

What about the landing page?

When designing the landing page think about the action you want and emphasize it; remove all other distractions from the webpage. The landing page should be designed in such a way that the website is driven to the action you wish for them to take.

Unique URLs or special landing pages can be instrumental in tracking a advertising campaigns success. They are also helpful when you conduct split-testing sending users to different web pages, and then tracking the actions that result.

What common problems result in poor conversions?

Poor web site design can result in a low website conversion. Websites should explain the product or service is that you are selling in simple terms. The website navigation should be intuitive, and it should not be difficult to locate what visitors are looking for. Avoid vintage web graphics that are of low quality, or fonts that are unreadable. Avoid color schemes or font size that alienate web visitors, colors should be used to highlight important points. Webmasters should avoid small font sizes or fonts that are not easily readable.

While some items are easy to measure, others become a little more nebulous, it is difficult to know whether enhanced graphics will increase sales, but they should be considered when evaluating a poor conversion rate.

Take this further; search for websites, newsletters and any information you can find on the net by doing a search on your chosen role model. Learn as much as you can about them and take copious notes.

From here you can begin to implement what you've learned to your own marketing efforts.

But don't stop there, with just one of your heroes, repeat the process with other big names; take the best from the best and put your spin on their marketing methods so that you stand out from the crowd and are not just a poor imitation.

Forums are another great way of shortening the learning curve for newbie internet marketers; here you will commingle with people who have gone through the trials and tribulations you would hope to avoid. Through the various forums you can interact with people who have had massive success and even request their help.

Another option is to search for accountability partners or Mastermind Groups.

An accountability partner would be someone that you stay in contact with on a regular basis, perhaps each week or every second day, whatever suits, so you can set tasks for each other and accomplish more with each others support.

The key thing is to hold your partner to account for failing a task, just the same rewarding them when their goals are met; you can decide how to do this between yourselves, so long as you are making progress together this is a good way to go.

You want to be supportive to each other, bounce ideas, offer advice, and together find solutions to problems.

Similar to this are Mastermind Groups.

Mastermind groups usually have a good blend of experience to help those new to the game on their way to success. Of the most positive offshoots of mastermind grouping are the potential for joint venture partners, mentors and cyber friends for life.

These a just a few of the many ways to benefit from the experience of those who have realized online success. Be patient with the process and get the right information, online empires are rarely built overnight, but they usually grow by a consistently seeking out the right information and applying it well.
